Installing the Cutting Units

Parts needed for this procedure:

Procedure
1. Remove the reel motors from the shipping brackets.
2. Remove the shipping brackets and discard.
3. Remove the cutting units from the cartons. Assemble
and adjust as described in the cutting unit Operator's
Manual.
4. Make sure the counter weight (Figure 9) is installed to
the proper end of the cutting unit as described in the
cutting unit Operator's Manual.

5. All the cutting units are shipped with the turf
compensation spring mounted to the right side of the
cutting unit. The turf compensation spring must be
mounted to the same side of the cutting unit as the
reel drive motor. Reposition the turf compensation
as follows:
A. Remove the 2 carriage bolts and nuts securing the
rod bracket to the cutting unit tabs (Figure 10).

B. Remove the flange nut securing the spring tube
bolt to the carrier frame tab (Figure 10) Remove
the assembly.
C. Mount the spring tube bolt to the opposite tab on
the carrier frame and secure with the flange nut.
The bolt head is to be positioned to the outer side
of the tab as shown in Figure 11.

D. Mount the rod bracket to the cutting unit tabs
with the carriage bolts and nuts (Figure 11). Also,
on the cutting unit, mount the left hand hose
guide to the front of the cutting unit tabs when
reinstalling the rod bracket (Figure 13).
Important: On the #4 (left front) and #5
(right front) cutting units, use the rod bracket
mounting nuts to install the hose guides to
the front of the cutting unit tabs. The hose
guides should lean toward the center cutting
unit (Figure 12 through Figure 14).
