Serial Ports For POS
To connect a Multi-Media DVR to a point-of-sale (POS) device—a cash register, automatic
teller machine (ATM), and so on—a device is needed for Protocol Interface Translation
(PIT) or Network Protocol Interface Translation (NetPIT). Rapid Eye Multi-Media DSP DVRs
support PITs and a NetPIT, for attaching many serial devices to a Multi-Media DVR.
A PIT can provide communications for one device (AVBPIT1) or up to four devices
(AVBPIT4POS). A NetPIT device provides communications for up to 16 POS devices from
one serial port.
