KAP 140
Possible Cause(s)
Pitch servo slip clutch set be-
low minimum torque.
Autotrim not working properly.
GS Offset not properly ad-
justed.
GS gain low due to improper
MM activity.
Roll servo bridle cable below
minimum allowed tension.
Roll servo slip clutch set below
minimum torque.
Turn Coordinator has exces-
sive hysteresis or delay.
Invalid altitude code from al-
timeter.
Directional Gyro or HSI has
faulty output.
Heading Offset not properly
adjusted.
LOC Offset not properly ad-
justed.
GPS Offset not properly ad-
justed.
VOR Offset not properly ad-
justed.
If "PT" on FCC, MET switch
may be stuck active.
Checks to Perform
Check and adjust slip clutch torque to
certified value.
Check for normal autotrim response to
induced effort on control wheel. Check
trim sense signal in diagnostics for
proper response to control effort.
With simulated centered GS signal,
check GS offset adjustment in FCC
and readjust as necessary.
Check MM in diagnostics for proper
operation.
Check and adjust bridle cable to certi-
fied value.
Check and adjust slip clutch to certi-
fied value.
Replace Turn Coordinator.
Check altimeter interconnect (Gilham
code) in diagnostics. Replace altime-
ter, as required.
Replace DG or HSI.
With heading set to North, check
heading/course datum offset adjust-
ment in FCC and readjust as neces-
sary.
With simulated centered LOC signal,
check LOC offset adjustment in FCC
and readjust as necessary.
With simulated centered GPS signal,
check GPS offset adjustment in FCC
and readjust as necessary.
With simulated centered VOR signal,
check VOR offset adjustment in FCC
and readjust as necessary.
Using diagnostics, check that UP,
DOWN, and ARM switches are all in-
active when nor pressed.
