Configuring an IP Address on a Gigabit Ethernet Interface
To configure an IP address on one of the external Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, perform the following
task in global configuration mode:
Task
Step 1 Enter interface configuration mode to configure
the Gigabit Ethernet interface.
Step 2 Enter the IP address and IP subnet mask to be
assigned to the interface.
Step 3 Enable the interface (applies only to Gig1 and
Gig2).
Step 4 Return to global configuration mode. Repeat Steps
1 through 3 to configure the other interfaces on the
Catalyst 4000 Layer 3 Services module.
Step 5 Return to privileged EXEC mode.
Step 6
Copy your configuration changes to NVRAM.
