Evidence of defects in or damage to
hardware
elements
breaks, rough or sharp edges, deformation,
corrosion,
chemical
heating, pitted surfaces, alteration, and
excessive wear.
Operational damage to the hardware.
Snap Hook/Carabiner/Rebar Hook - The
connector gate (keeper) should seat into the
nose without binding and should not be dis-
torted or obstructed. The gate spring should
exert sufficient force to firmly close the gate.
The gate locking mechanism must prevent
the gate from opening when closed.
Swivels - The connector and anchorage
swivels should operate smoothly.
Evidence of defects in or damage to the
housing and/or loose/missing fasteners.
Evidence of deployed or activated fall
load indicators.
Every
Honeywell
lifeline will be equipped with one of the
following load impact indicators:
WARNING
When inspection and operational test-
ing reveals defects in or damage to
equipment, inadequate maintenance of
equipment, or evidence of equipment
having been exposed to fall arrest forces
or loading, the equipment shall be im-
mediately removed from service.
Units removed from service, shall be
marked and tagged "UNUSABLE" and
returned for service in accordance with
the manufacturer's instructions. Non-
repairable devices must be disposed of
in a manner to prevent inadvertent fur-
ther use.
Webbing Load Indicator
(See Fig. 9a)
A fold sewn into the webbing lifeline
above the snap hook serves as the impact
indicator. A warning flag is included and will
be exposed should the lifeline be subjected
to fall arresting forces.
Snap Hook Load Indicator
(See Fig. 9b)
The snap hook load impact indicator is built
into the swivel part of the snap hook. The
swivel eye will elongate and expose a red
area at the location illustrated (see Fig. 9b)
when subjected to fall arrest forces.

If the unit has a rebar hook, it may be
equipped with the Karlstop fall indicator.
When subjected to fall arresting forces,
a break will occur in the load indicator as
illustrated (see Fig. 9c).
6.2 Maintenance
Basic care of all fall protection equipment
will prolong its service life and will contrib-
ute toward the performance of its vital safe-
ty function.
Servicing
Servicing of Honeywell Miller self-retracting
lifelines must only be carried out by
Honeywell Industrial Safety or persons or
entities authorized in writing by Honeywell.
A record log of all servicing and inspection
dates for this device must be maintained.
Only original Honeywell replacement parts
are approved for use in this device. Contact
your Honeywell distributor or call Honeywell
Technical Service at 1-800-873-5242 for a
return authorization number.
Honeywell Miller self-retracting lifelines
(included in this manual) require no annual
factory recertification.*
*Honeywell Industrial Safety, as the manu-
facturer, does not require annual factory
recertification for Honeywell Miller self-
retracting lifelines. ANSI Z359.14 and CSA
Z259.2.2 standards are voluntary; and ulti-
mately, the end-user/company must elect
to follow the inspection and recertification
requirements if it is to be compliant with
the standard.
[Note for CSA Approved Prod-
ucts: CSA Z259.2.2 requires Type 2 and Type
3 devices to be returned to the manufacturer
or an approved service agent no more than
2 years after the date of manufacturer for
inspection and maintenance and annually
thereafter.]
Cleaning and Storage
This device must be kept clean and free
of contaminants.

using a damp cloth and mild detergent.
When not in use, equipment shall be stored
in a manner as to preclude damage from
environmental factors, such as temperature,
light, UV, excessive moisture, oil, chemicals
and their vapors, or other degrading
elements. The lifeline should be fully
retracted into the device when not in use.
