Transmit Voice Path

The Line 1 analog voice signal is sent from the T1,R1 balanced input at the
Paddleboard TB1(1,2) to the back connector J1(A6,A5). The signal is sent via
bantam jack J2, through Si3201 line interface circuit U12(1,3) to the ProSLIC
device U13 that performs 2W to 4W hybrid function, signal attenuation/
amplification, signal filtering and A-D conversion with µ-law compression. The
resulting 64 kb/s PCM data stream (DTX1) is passed to the FPGA U10(24).
Line 2 transmit signal is processed identically on its own path. The resulting
64kb/s PCM data stream (DTX2) is passed to the FPGA U10(46).
The FPGA maps DTX1 and DTX2 data streams into the corresponding DS0
channels set by the user. The FPGA outputs the data on its pin 5 to the JVT
shelf driver U15. The JVT bus transmit interface at J1(C14,A14) consists of a
balanced RS-485 signal pair.
The FPGA receives its clock source from the JVT Clock through the JVT bus
receiver U16. The JVT serial bus operates at 2.592 MHz.
The microprocessor provides the information to the FPGA, which conditions the
solid-state relay U8 across the bantam jack for bridging or splitting configuration.

Receive Voice Path

The DS0 channel data is received from the JVT bus at J1(A16,C16) by the bus
receiver U14 and after level conversion sent to the FPGA pin 12.
The FPGA converts the received DS0 channel data into respective 64kb/s PCM
data streams DRX1 and DRX2 and passes them to the respective ProSLIC
device.
Each ProSLIC device converts its received data stream back to analog voice
signal and sends it through Si3201 line interface circuit and via bantam jack J2 to
the back connector J1(A6,A5) for Line 1 (T1,R1) and J1(A8,A9) for Line 2
(T2,R2) respectively.
From the back connector J1, the signals are forwarded to the paddleboard and
are available for customer connections on TB1(1,2) and TB1 (3,4) for Line 1
(T1,R1) and Line 2 (T2, R2) respectively.
