Power tracks
Maintaining the power tracks
Maintaining the power tracks is critical for smooth scanner operation
 Blow out any debris using pressurized air
 Check hose and cable clearance
 Check hose, cables, and links for wear
 Check service loops
 Check cable clamps
Check dirt build up
Inspection of the power tracks
1. Scan the heads offsheet on the cable end of the scanner and turn off the Motor Power keyswitch
To perform any maintenance, troubleshooting, or replacement of components,
:

ensure that power is disabled at the breaker.
2. Remove all beam covers
3. Clean out dust from the track using mill air or, if needed, rags.
4. Remove the snap link covers from the moving portions of the Power track.
5. Inspect ribbon cables for wear:
If any exposed wires or deformed ribbon cable insulation is found, replace the

power track assembly.
6. Check the ribbon cables at a variety of points after scanning several round trips to look for wear
caused by rubbing such as exposed wires or scuffed insulation.
7. Check for any deformed ribbon cable insulation.
8. Replace worn snaplinks. Links are considered worn if half of the sliding surfaces are worn away
or the links are bouncing, causing the heads not to scan smoothly.
Hose and ribbon cable assemblies in the power track can be replaced

independently. Hose assemblies typically wear out before ribbon cables.
9. Check the hose assembly. The hoses will be tight in the snaplinks and there will be hose dust
where they rub against the snaplinks. This is normal wear. However, if the wear is through the
first layer of rubber, or if the cords between the layers are showing, replace the hose.
Adjustment of the power tracks
The cable space set-up must be done during installation of any power
track, repeated one month after a power track installation and re

checked every three months thereafter.
1. Check to ensure the correct cable allowance/space between each ribbon cable layer as
