Cable End Electrical Assemblies and Universal
Precision Measurement Processor
The Cable End electrical assemblies serve as the interface between the scanner and the Quality Control System.
The 4022-33 require a Universal Precision Measurement Processor (UPMP) with integral Measurement Sub
System (MSS).
This chapter provides a description of the Cable End electrical assemblies as well as the electronic components
of the 4610-00 UPMP used with the 4022-33. The UPMP is located remotely from the scanner in a wall-mounted
enclosure.
This chapter is divided into the following main sections:
• Cable End Electrical Assemblies
• Cable End Electrical PCB Assemblies
• Remote 4610-00 UPMP
• MSS Electronics
• Miscellaneous Interlocks and Switches
Cable End Electrical Overview
The Cable End of the 4022-33 scanners consists of these main assemblies:
• AC Power Distribution Assembly
• AC Motor
• Encoder Assembly
• 56 VAC Heater Transformer
• Electrical PCB Assemblies consisting of Termination Board and Logic Board
The AC Power Distribution Assembly consists of
• terminal strips for connecting AC power,
• circuit breakers to protect the electrical wiring and components,
• line filters to condition the AC power.
The AC motor used on the scanner requires a dedicated motor controller programmed to match the
scanner loading on the motor. This controller resides in a UPMP. The Encoder Assembly sends signals
relating to scanner position and velocity back to the Quality Control System or UPMP.
The scanner cable end also houses a 56 VAC Heater Transformer for supplying power to the resistive
heaters located inside the heads. The Termination Board Assembly consists of the Termination Board and
the Logic Daughter Board plugging into the Termination Board.
Some of these assemblies are shown on figure xx
