Cleaning other parts of the Orion Console
Item
The acrylic edging surrounding the equipment tray requires
similar cleaning to the acrylic alarm light panel. No other
special cleaning fluids or materials are required for other
parts of the console apart from dusting the surfaces and a
regular wipe down. Sprays and aerosols should always be
avoided and not used on the console or near any of the
electronic equipment in or on the console.
The same micro-fiber cloths can be used for acrylic edging
and wiping down the console to remove dust and dirt.
Abrasive cleaning liquids and scourers should not be used on
any of the parts of the console. Regular dusting and/or
vacuuming of all surfaces is recommended to help maintain
their beauty and longevity.
Use a soft damp cloth (not wet) for general cleaning
purposes. If stains are present, use a mild soap.
The paint used on the console is an HP scratch resistant
powder coat, however the scratch resistance is only designed
to maintain the paint and delay the signs of normal wear and
tear. Avoid using any other cleaning fluid or abrasive
materials which may scratch the powder coat.
If an actuator becomes dirty it should be cleaned
immediately to prevent the accumulation of residues.
However it is an electrical component, and aerosols sprays
and liquids should not be used.
Wipe the column with a damp cloth and water. If necessary a
small amount of isopropyl alcohol on a cloth can be used.
Ensure that washing water with chemical additives is pH-
neutral. Excessively acidic or alkaline water can permanently
damage the columns.
High-pressure steam cleaning equipment must not be used.
