The following system variables have been dropped:

The affected system variables are ignored in configuration files. In scripts, an error message
is issued in the compilation run and an adjustment must be made.

Overview
The following table shows the essential differences during configuration of packages between
SINUMERIK 840D sl and SINUMERIK 828D:

The CMC installation folder under Sample\Install_828D_Systemsoftware\ contains the

template for an HW Config archive for 828D systems.
HW Config in the case of SINUMERIK 828D
Depending on the system, one of the greatest differences between the two control system
series is the hardware configuration. While the hardware for 840D sl systems can be configured
in great detail via system data blocks (SDBs), in the case of 828D systems possible hardware
configurations are pre-configured and can be set via NC machine data.
For package execution under Shield, however, the HW Config for both systems must be
specified equally on the "System configuration (Page 158)" dialog page.
The template in the CMC installation folder "828D-SDB-Template.ard" contains the necessary
machine data and can be used as a template:
● MD11240 $MN_PROFIBUS_SDB_NUMBER[n]
● MD11241 $MN_PROFIBUS_SDB_SELECT
The machine data must be set in accordance with the control system documentation. The
newly created Archiv *.ARD can then be used as an offline archive in the System
configuration (Page 158) dialog.
