NOTE
The piece of string in the next step is
used to pull the new throttle cable
through the frame so the cable will be
properly routed.
10. Tie a piece of heavy string or cord to the ends of
the throttle cable at the carburetor. Wrap this end
with tape. Do not use an excessive amount of tape.
Too much tape could interfere with the cable's pas-
sage through the frame. Tie the other end of the
string to the frame.
11. Starting at the handlebar, carefully pull the
throttle cable along the frame and through the fork
legs. Make sure the attached string follows the same
path as the throttle cable through the frame.
12. Untie the string from the old cable and tie it to
the carburetor ends of the new cable.
13. Carefully pull the string back through the
frame, routing the new cable through the same path
as the old.
14. Remove the string and lubricate the ends of the
new cable with lithium soap grease.
15. Connect the return cable end to the carburetor
wheel. Fit the cable into the bracket and secure it in
place with the locknut (B, Figure 83).
16. Connect the pull cable to the carburetor throttle
wheel and secure it to the bracket with its locknut
(A, Figure 83).
17. At the handlebar, lubricate the ends of the new
cable with lithium soap grease. Connect the cable
ends (A, Figure 85) to the throttle grip. Make sure
the cables rests in the grooves of the throttle drum.
18. Reinstall the halves of the right handlebar
switch assembly. Make sure the index pin (B, Fig-
ure 85) on the switch assembly aligns with the hole
in the handlebar. Secure the switch with the screws
(Figure 84).
19. Operate the throttle grip. Make sure the throttle
linkage operates correctly without binding. If nec-
essary, make sure the cable is correctly attached and
there are no tight bends in the cable.
20. Adjust throttle cable free play as described in
Chapter Three.
21. Reinstall the surge tank, air filter housing and
the fuel tank as described in this chapter.
22. Start the engine. Turn the handlebar from side
to side without operating the throttle. If the engine
speed increases as the handlebar is turned, the throt-
tle cable is routed incorrectly. Recheck the cable
routing.

Do you have a question about the V star 1100 and is the answer not in the manual?

How can I download this manual in Polish?
Why is my starter clutch turning the wrong way
Diagnostic port location for a 04 v-star 1100
When I press my clutch in starterturns on but with my kill switch on. Why
The Yamaha V Star 1100 has an ignition circuit cut-off system integrated into the clutch lever holder. This system ensures that the starter motor will only engage if the clutch is pulled in, preventing accidental starts in gear. Additionally, the engine stop (kill) switch must be in the correct position to complete the ignition circuit. If the clutch is disengaged or the kill switch is off, the circuit remains open, preventing the starter from operating.

I need to see diagrams and directions on the wiring system from front to back for a 1100 hyú
The Yamaha V Star 1100 wiring diagrams and directions are available toward the back of the repair manual. The diagrams show wire routing and connections for systems such as:
- Headlight, tail light, high beam indicator, meter illumination
- Front turn signals and position lights
- Main switch, dimmer switch, and pass switch
- Brake light and switches
- Horn circuit
To rewire the motorcycle from front to back:
1. Check the manual for the full wiring diagram.
2. Use the diagram to identify wire colors and connection points.
3. Inspect and test continuity of:
- Headlight and socket
- Turn signal bulbs and sockets
- Brake light bulbs and switches
- Fuses (main, signal, and headlight)
- Connectors and switches (main, dimmer, pass)
4. Restore wires using proper tools to crimp and match colors based on the diagram.
The repair manual is the main source for accurate wire locations and functions.
