Draining the Fuel-Water
Separator
Service Interval: Before each use or daily—Drain
water or other contaminants from
the water separator.
1.
Prepare the machine for maintenance; refer to
Preparing for Maintenance (page
2.
Open the hood; refer to
40).
3.
Place a drain pan under the fuel-water separator
filter
(Figure
80).

4.
Loosen the drain valve at the bottom of the
fuel-water separator filter, and allow the fuel and
water to drain.
5.
Close the drain valve at the bottom of the
fuel-water separator filter.
6.
Close and latch the hood; refer to
Hood (page
40).

Bleeding the Fuel System

1.
Prepare the machine for maintenance; refer to
Preparing for Maintenance (page
2.
Ensure that the fuel tank is at least half full.
3.
Open the hood; refer to
40).
4.
Open the air-bleed screw on the fuel-injection
pump
(Figure
81).

Turn the key in the ignition switch to the O
position.
The electric fuel pump runs, forcing air out
around the air-bleed screw.
Note:
Leave the key in the O
solid stream of fuel flows out around the screw.

Tighten the screw and turn the ignition key to
O
.

Close and latch the hood; refer to
Hood (page
40).
Checking the Fuel Lines
and Connections
Service Interval: Every 400 hours/Yearly (whichever
comes first)
Park the machine on a level surface, lower the cutting
units, engage the parking brake, shut off the engine,
and remove the key.
1.
Prepare the machine for maintenance; refer to
Preparing for Maintenance (page
2.
Open the hood; refer to
40).
3.
Inspect the fuel lines for wear, deterioration,
damage, or loose fittings.
Note:
Repair or replace any worn or damaged
fuel lines; tighten any loose fittings.
4.
Close and latch the hood; refer to
Hood (page
40).
