Checking the insulation of the assembly

Supply unit


Do not make any voltage tolerance or insulation resistance tests on the supply unit. Every
drive system has been insulation tested between the main circuit and the chassis at the
factory. Also, there may be voltage-limiting circuits inside the drive system which cut down
the testing voltage automatically.

Input power cable


Check the insulation of the supply (input) cable according to local regulations before
connecting it to the drive.

Checking the compatibility with IT (ungrounded) systems

If the supply unit is equipped with an additional EMC filter (option +E202, 1st environment,
restricted), the filter must be disconnected before connecting the unit to an IT
(ungrounded) or high resistance grounded (>30 ohm) power system. This is because the
capacitors of the EMC filter are connected to the ground, meaning that the system would
be grounded via these capacitors. This is not allowed for an equipment in an ungrounded
system.
