6 . Apply vibra to to the voice.
Press KN O B PARAMETER G RO UP switch [VCO 1 ] and
press CO N TRO L kno b 8 to display the Pmo d Depth
(Pitch Mo dulatio n Depth) parameter in the L CD. T urn
the kno b to set a value near " +2 0 " . This applies the
vibrato effect to the vo ice when yo u play.
N ext, let's set up the vibrato to be applied by the
[MO DUL ATIO N ] wheel, in o rder to co ntro l the amo unt
o f vibrato as yo u play. Chang e the Pmo d Depth setting
back to " 0 " .
W e' ll use o ne o f the 1 6 sets in the Co ntro l Matrix to
assig n the VCO 1 Pitch Mo dulatio n Depth parameter to
the [MO DUL ATIO N ] wheel.
Set the [EDIT RO T ARY] switch to the VO ICE SCEN E
SETUP menu.
• Press Set N o [UP/ DO W N ] to display " Set 1 " in the
L CD.
• Press Param [UP/ DO W N ] to display " VCO 1
Pmo dDp" in the L CD.
• Press So urce [UP/ DO W N ] to display " A.MW " in the
L CD.
NOTE
You can also assign a Control Change number to the Source, by which to control
the Parameter. In this case the Control Change number must match the setting in
the UTILITY SETUP menu's Control Device and Control Number.
Yo u can co ntro l the vibrato o f the VCO 1 by mo ving the
[MO DUL ATIO N ] wheel. T o further define the rang e o f
vibrato co ntro l, press Depth [UP/ DO W N ] to set a
value o f " Dp+2 0 " .
7 . Apply reverbera tion to the sound.
Set the [EDIT RO T ARY] switch to the VO ICE CO MMO N
menu, then press Dly/ Rev EF Param [UP/ DO W N ] to
display " Rev Return" in the L CD. Press Data
[UP/ DO W N ] to set a value o f abo ut " 3 0 " .

Synth Le a d
First let's crea te the funda menta l sound...
1 . Select a voice tha t you don't m ind w riting
over.
Perfo rm a T ype 1 (N o rmal) Vo ice Initialize o peratio n.
2 . Set up the Sync Algorithm for a slow
movement of the sound.
Press KN O B PARAMETER G RO UP switch [SYN C/ FM].
• T urn CO N TRO L kno b 1 and set the Alg o rithm
parameter to " Sync+FMbth" , which enables the sync
and applies FM to bo th master and slave o scillato rs
o f VCO 1 .
NOTE
Other settings ( except for " only FM" ) will also produce effective results.
• T urn CO N TRO L kno b 2 and set the Sync Pitch
parameter to a value o f abo ut " +1 0 " .
• T urn CO N TRO L kno b 3 and set the Sync Pitch Depth
parameter to a value o f abo ut " +2 0 " .
• T urn CO N TRO L kno b 4 and set the Pitch So urce to
" L FO 1 " .
3 . Slow dow n the speed of the LFO 1 .
Press KN O B PARAMETER G RO UP switch [PEG / L FO ],
then press CO N TRO L kno b 6 o nce to display the L FO 1
Speed parameter in the L CD. T urn the kno b to set a
value o f abo ut " 8 " .
4 . Cha nge the LFO 1 w a ve.
Press CO N TRO L kno b 5 o nce to display the L FO 1
W ave parameter in the L CD. T urn the kno b to select
↑↑
" sine
" , which shifts the entire wave abo ve the 0 line.
This creates a mo re typical synth lead so und.
N ex t let's tw ea k a few pa ra meters to a dd ex tra
depth a nd dimension to the sound...
5 . Set up the sound for porta m ento pla y.
In the [PEG / L FO ] g ro up, press CO N TRO L kno b 4 to
display the Po rt (Po rtamento ) Time parameter in the
L CD. T urn the kno b to set a value o f abo ut " 6 0 " .
NOTE
If " – – – " is flashing alternately with the Port Time value in the LCD, this means
the portamento is turned off. To turn the portamento on, press the
[ PORTAMENTO] switch once.
6 . Set up the Synth Lea d sound for lega to pla y.
Set the [EDIT RO T ARY] switch to the VO ICE SCEN E
SETUP menu and press Po ly [UP/ DO W N ] to set the
Po ly mo de to " leg at" (leg ato ). Playing the keybo ard
pro duces o nly a mo no pho nic no te, and yo u can slur
the lead no tes into each o ther.
