You can determine which recording mode — either S-VHS mode or VHS mode — is
used for recording on D-VHS and S-VHS tapes.
When this function is set to "ON", you can record on D-VHS and S-VHS tapes with
S-VHS picture quality.
When this function is set to "OFF", you can record on D-VHS and S-VHS tapes with
VHS picture quality.
NOTES:
● S-VHS mode allows you to make high quality video recordings with horizontal resolution of
400 lines, comparing with the 230 lines of resolution of conventional VHS recordings. To
achieve the highest quality picture we recommend to record in S-VHS mode. (But remember
that a conventional VHS VCR without SQPB cannot play back S-VHS tapes recorded in S-VHS
mode.)
● S-VHS MODE setting does not affect recording on VHS tapes. Recording on VHS tapes is
always performed in VHS mode except when using S-VHS ET mode (
When this function is set to "ON", you can reduce the power consumption. While the
VCR is turned off, the front display panel does not show the clock.
When this function is set to "ON", an i.LINK device cannot be recognized. As a
result, it is not possible to record a program using the digital tuner's* timer function.
In addition the device does not pass along data if it is in a branched connection.
* For details of a digital tuner, refer to the instruction manual of the digital tuner.
When this function is set to "OFF", only [:] appears on the front display panel.
NOTE:
Even if you set "DISPLAY" to "OFF", each item appears on the front display panel in the
following cases;
● when the timer-recording is in progress/in the timer standby mode (
● in the Satellite Auto Recording standby mode (
● during Plug & Play setting (
● when you press [REC ( ¶ )] twice for the ITR (
● when you set the remote control code (
● when you press [DISPLAY], the current status appears for a few seconds.
You have to select which terminal — either [VIDEO] (composite) or [S VIDEO] (Y/C
separate signals) to use as the video input terminal on the front panel.
Make sure to select the correct terminal; otherwise, you may fail in recording (editing)
on this VCR.
You have to select which terminal — either [VIDEO] (composite) or [S VIDEO] (Y/C
separate signals) to use as the video input terminal [L-1] on the rear panel.
Make sure to select the correct terminal; otherwise, you may fail in recording (editing)
on this VCR.
You have to select which terminal — either [VIDEO] (composite) or [S VIDEO] (Y/C
separate signals) to use as the video input terminal [L-2] on the rear panel.
Make sure to select the correct terminal; otherwise, you may fail in recording (editing)
on this VCR.
When recording or playing back digital broadcasting via i.LINK input with [L-1IN]
terminal connected to the analog output of the Digital Set Top Box, you can set this
function to "ON" to monitor the pictures input via [L-1] from this VCR's output
terminal.
NOTES:
● Use the Digital Set Top Box when viewing digital broadcasting. Refer to the instruction manual
for the Digital Set Top Box for the necessary settings.
● When 2 or more devices are connected with i.LINK, turn off the power of those devices that
are not communicating with this VCR.
● When this function is set to "ON", on-screen display and menu operation are still functional.
