Safety instructions for electrical connection

Danger due to electrical current
Check whether the existing line voltage corresponds to that specified on the nameplate of
the device, to the technical specifications and to the test certificate valid for your country.
Danger due to electrical current
The power supply cable to be connected at the customer location could be damaged by
incorrect fitting in the device.
You should therefore carry out a visual inspection and PE conductor test of the cable in
accordance with the country-specific safety standards, regulations or other applicable
directives before starting up the device. Because part of the cable is in the device, always
keep to the product safety standard IEC/EN 61010-1 or its national equivalent.
NOTICE
Cable glands for the wall-mounted device
Match the diameter of the cable to the threaded cable glands. After installation, make sure
that the cables are secure and that the seals are in the correct position.
Failure of the protective gas
Risk of explosion
Explosive external voltages can be caused in the device if the protective gas fails.
Route all inlets and outlets across Ex coupling relays in hazardous areas. This way you
prevent external voltages in the device in case the protective gas fails.
Unsuitable devices
Only devices which do not generate sparks during operation may be connected to non-energy-
limited circuits in Zone 2 or 22, and these must be suitable for operation in hazardous areas
of Zone 2 or 22 and the conditions present at the location of use.
