  • Page 20 Description 3.4 Functional principles In contrast to other gases, oxygen is highly paramagnetic. This physical property is used to determine oxygen concentration in gases. Oxygen molecules in an inhomogeneous magnetic field always move toward the higher field strength. This results in a higher oxygen concentration where the field strength is higher (higher oxygen partial pressure).

Application planning Application planning General In order to achieve a good measuring quality, the installation location should be free of vibrations. Building vibrations, in particular in the frequency range from 8 to 12 Hz, can influence the measured signal. Check using the technical specifications that your device is suitable for the measuring task. WARNING Feeding of gases with flammable components A device in the standard version must not be operated in hazardous areas.

ESD guidelines ESD Guidelines Definition of ESD All electronic modules are equipped with large-scale integrated ICs or components. Due to their design, these electronic elements are highly sensitive to overvoltage, and thus to any electrostatic discharge. The electrostatic sensitive components/modules are commonly referred to as ESD devices. This is also the international abbreviation for such devices.
