cable. In case the 0.5 seconds operating time is exceeded with gG fuses, ultrarapid
(aR) fuses will in most cases reduce the operating time to an acceptable level.
WARNING! Circuit breakers are not capable of providing sufficient protection
because they are inherently slower than fuses. Always use fuses with circuit
breakers.

The converter employs fuses in the DC link between the grid-side and rotor-side
converter modules. See chapter

Ground fault protection

All units are equipped with an internal earth fault protective function to protect the
converter against earth faults in the converter, generator and generator cable. (This
is not a personal safety or a fire protection feature.) Earth fault protective functions
can be disabled; refer to the appropriate Firmware Manual.

Emergency stop devices

For safety reasons, install the emergency stop devices at each operator control
station and at other operating stations where emergency stop may be needed.
An emergency stop function is available for stopping and switching off the whole
converter.
