If you attach the video flash light and set it to O ON, the video flash light fires in
place of the built-in flash. Refer to Using the Built-in Flash (_
59) for instructions on
selecting the flash mode.
1. Set the camcorder
to CAMERA or CARD CAMERA
mode.
2. Set the video
flash light's
POWER switch
to OON.

" (Connection) appears.
O Do not fire the flash close to people's eyes.
O Do not fire the flash at persons while they are driving.
O Do not fire the flash with the flash bulb covered with your hand.
C)The practical range of the flash is approx. 3.3 to 13.1 ft. (1 to 4 m). The range
depends upon the recording condition.
C)The camcorder fires a pre-flash to obtain the subject's exposure data and
adjusts the main flash to the optimal intensity (flash exposure compensation).
When @ (red-eye reduction, auto) is set, the pre-flash fires between the flash
for red-eye reduction and the main firing (the main firing takes place about 1
second after the flash for red-eye reduction).

1. Set the camcorder to CAMERA
or CARD CAMERA
mode.
2. Set the video
flash light's POWER switch to _AUTO
or 8ON.

" (Connection) appears.
• ON: Tile video light stays on.
• AUTO: The video light turns on and off automatically.
O Do not touch or place flammable material or plastic close to the lamp or the
surrounding parts during or immediately after use; they become very hot.
O Do not look directly at the lamp while the video light is on.
O Keep the distance to the subject within 3.3 to 6.6 ft. (1 to 2 m) when recording
with the video light.
O When recording in wide-angle, the corners of the screen may appear darken
O The recording time of a battery pack shortens when using the video light. We
recommend having extra battery packs on hand.
O When the battery pack is exhausted, the brightness of the video light changes.
This is not a malfunction.
O If you point the camcorder at a mirror or other reflective subjects when the video
light is set to AUTO, it may turn on and off repeatedly.
