Connect the DB-9 end of the console cable to the DB-9 end of the modem adapter.

Connect the DB-25 end of the modem adapter to the modem.
Step 3
Make sure that your modem and the router auxiliary port are configured for the same transmission speed

(up to 115200 bps is supported) and for mode control with data carrier detect (DCD) and data terminal
ready (DTR) operations.

Connecting Power to the Cisco 1861 Integrated Services Router

To connect the power supply to the Cisco 1861 Integrated Services Router, perform the following steps:
Step 1
Connect the AC power cord to the the power supply.
Step 2
Connect the power interface cable to the power connector port on the back of the Cisco 1861 Integrated
Services Router.
