G. If the ELT system does not include an AIM or a NAIM, register the RESCU 406AFN Hex
Identification Code (recorded on the Hex identification label on the transmitter unit) with the
appropriate National COSPAS/SARSAT office according to the instructions in Appendix D of this
manual.
H. If the ELT system includes an AIM or a NAIM but not a 24-bit DIP switch module, proceed as
follows:
(1)
Make sure that the Hex identification code recorded on the AIM or NAIM is transferred to
the Hex identification label on the transmitter unit.
(2)
Register the Hex identification code (transferred to the Hex identification label on the
transmitter unit) with the appropriate National COSPAS/SARSAT office according to the
instructions in Appendix D of this manual.

If the ELT system includes both an AIM or a NAIM and a 24-bit DIP switch module, proceed as
follows:
(1)
Make sure that the spare Hex identification label (included with the AIM or NAIM) is
properly marked with the Hex code generated by the 24-bit DIP switch module and affixed
to the transmitter unit.
(2)
Register the RESCU 406AFN Hex identification Code (recorded on the Hex Identification
label on the transmitter unit) with the appropriate National COSPAS/SARSAT office
according to the instructions in Appendix D of this manual.

Installation of AIM
A. If an optional AIM module is part of the ELT system, the 31-pin connector on the AIM shall be
directly connected to the 31-pin connector on the back of the transmitter unit, which is accessible
by removing the transmitter unit programming connector faceplate.
B. Bolt the AIM to the same supporting structure as the transmitter unit.
C. For AIM module wiring to optional DIP switch module, refer to Figure A-1.

Installation of NAIM
A. If the optional NAIM is installed as part of the ELT system, then J2, the 31-pin connector on the
NAIM, shall be directly connected to the J2 connector on the transmitter unit. The J2 connector on
the transmitter unit is accessible by removing the transmitter unit programming connector
faceplate.
B. Bolt the NAIM to the same support structure as the transmitter unit.
C. Connect J1 on the NAIM and the 31-pin connector to the following:
(1)
NAIM J1 pin 8, to aircraft 28 V dc power, using a 22 AWG wire.
(2)
NAIM J1 pin 7 to aircraft ground.
