D. Method 2 – BT100AVS or AVtriple
NOTE: It is expected that the person performing these tests is familiar with the operation of the
BT100AVS or AVtriple Beacon Test Set. For more information on doing beacon testing,
refer to the BT100AVS or AVtriple Operator's Manual.

Connect the test set as shown in Figure 102 for transmitter unit as follows:
(a)
On the BT100AVS or AVtriple, set input to 5W and REF mode to internal frequency.
(b)
Remove the battery cover from the transmitter unit, disconnect and remove the
battery (refer to the REPAIR section).
(c)
For transmitter unit set the power supply to 10.6 V dc and set the power switch to OFF.
(d)
Connect the power supply to the power supply terminals on the transmitter unit.
NOTE: Make sure the polarity is correct (red +ve and black –ve).

If the transmitter unit has been removed from an aircraft installation with a
NAIM attached, and the NAIM is programmed with the NULL message
protocol, then the decoded message shall have the protocol shown on the
NAIM label and the 24-bit aircraft address shall be in accordance to the
24-bit DIP switch module attached to the NAIM. The total message shall
be the 144-bit format. The location (longitude/latitude) will be the last
location loaded into the transmitter unit before removal from the cockpit
(refer to NOTE).

If the transmitter unit has been removed from an aircraft installation with a
NAIM attached, and the NAIM is programmed with a valid User Location
or Standard Location Format, then the decoded message shall be in
accordance to the protocol and the 15-HEX message shown on the NAIM
programming label (refer to NOTE).
NOTE 1: The 15-HEX code presumes that the transmitter unit was
pre-loaded with the default longitude/latitude co-ordinates
before removal from the aircraft.
NOTE 2: To pre-load the transmitter unit with the default location, use
the following procedures:
Disable or remove the ARINC input data to the NAIM, or
disable the 28 V dc to the NAIM.
With the transmitter unit installed in the aircraft and
connected to the NAIM, activate the transmitter unit using
either the Transmitter Unit , Control Test # 1, Para 2.B., or
Remote Panel, Control Test # 2, Para 2.D.
De-activate the transmitter unit and restore system to the
normal in-service configuration.
Place the switch on the transmitter unit back to the OFF position.
