Fig. 2.4 Ra ng plug
TRIP UNIT
Ra ng Plug is plugged in to a jack on the trip. Unit Front Face. When
this device is not installed the Trip Unit will revert to it's minimum
se ng, which has as value of 16-18% of the breaker ra ng In.
Ra ng plugs can be removed with a Ra ng Plug Extractor,
Catalogue No. FAR reference code 432861 . (Suitable equivalents
are commercially available as "integrated circuit (DIP) extractors".
Grasp the ra ng plug tabs with the extractor and pull the plug out.
Be sure to grab the tabs and not the front cover of the ra ng plug,
or the plug may be damaged.
2.1.9 Power requirements
A small amount of power is necessary to energize the liquid crystal
display (LCD) during setup, for viewing breaker status and for
metering displays. The power sources can be one of the following:
-- Current ow: Breaker current sensors provide su cient power to
energize the LCD when at least 20% of the sensor's ampere ra ng is
owing.
-- +24 VDC control power
-- Internal ba ery power: Powers the unit temporarily when any
keypad key is pressed. Ba ery power automa cally turns o 20 sec
a er the last keypad press. The ba ery power supply is disabled
when any current is sensed through the current sensors.
- Test kit Catalogue No. GTUTK20 reference code 407999 has a extra
internal ba ery that can be used to power the trip unit when
internal ba ery power is not present. The device also has a built in
24 VDC control power supply that can be powered up through a
standard mains
connec on.
The Mpro Trip Units require external +24 VDC control power for
communica on.
2.1.9.1 Ba ery
GENERAL BATTERY INFORMATION
The trip unit has a front panel mounted ba ery. When the ba ery
is present, the user can view data on the LCD and read or program
the trip unit via the keypads. The ba ery allows the user to display
data, change set points and provide thermal memory.
The ba ery does not allow normal trip unit opera on; i.e. over
current protec on, alarms, relays, etc., are not func onal when the
trip unit is powered from the ba ery. The trip unit will
automa cally shut o a er 20 sec when ba ery powered, this to
maximize ba ery life.
IMPROPER DISPOSAL
Ensure ba ery is properly disposed of according to all
applicable regula ons.
