Blank faceplates and cover panels serve three important functions: they prevent exposure to
Warning
hazardous voltages and currents inside the chassis; they contain electromagnetic interference (EMI)
that might disrupt other equipment; and they direct the flow of cooling air through the chassis. Do not
operate the system unless all cards, faceplates, front covers, and rear covers are in place.

Open the card ejector.
Use the ejector at the top of the card and firmly slide the card along the guide rails until the card
plugs into the receptacle at the back of the slot.
Verify that the card is inserted correctly and close the ejector on the card.
The electrical cards are hot-pluggable, which means they can be inserted or removed without
turning off the power to the ONS 15310-MA SDH.
All LEDs (FAIL, ACT/STBY, E1 SF, DS3 SF) turn on for 5 seconds, then turn off.
The green ACT/STBY and red FAIL LED turn on for 15 seconds.
The red FAIL LED flashes for 10 seconds, then becomes steady red for 30 seconds.
While the red FAIL LED is on, the ACT/STBY LED turns green for three seconds, then turns amber.
During this time, the E1 SF and DS3 SF LEDs are amber.
All LEDs turn off.
The ACT/STBY LED turns green (active) or amber (standby).
This procedure installs the filler cards (blank faceplates) in any unused
ONS 15310-MA SDH traffic or 15310E-CTX-K9 card slot. The filler cards
are detectable in CTC.
Filler card(s) for empty traffic card slots (15310-EXP-FILLER) and/or a
filler card for empty 15310E-CTX-K9 card slots (15310-CTX-FILLER)
