ASSEMBLING THE STARTER MOTOR

NOTE:
Align the mark a on the starter motor yoke with
the mark b on the starter motor front cover.

INSTALLING THE STARTER MOTOR

For installation, reverse the removal procedure.

5. Measure:
9 brush length a
Out of specification → Replace the brush-
es as a set.
Brush length wear limit
3.5 mm (0.14 in)
6. Measure:
9 brush spring force
Out of specification → Replace the brush
springs as a set.
Brush spring force
3.92–5.88 N (400–600 gf)
7. Check:
9 gear teeth
Damage/wear → Replace the armature.
1. Install:
9 O-ring
9 armature
(in start motor front cover 1 )
9 O-ring
9 starter motor yoke
9 starter motor front cover bolts
(with washers)
9 O-ring
ELEC
