NOTE: The Audio Mixer Tab is not present in Windows Vista or 7 due to operating system
limitations. Windows Vista and 7 take exclusive control of the sound card and do not allow any
application to control the overall level or the select/mute switches for any audio "endpoint" (input or
output). The Windows 2000 and Windows XP Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) that the Audio
Mixer tab requires is not present in Vista and Windows 7. Because that capability is missing, Router
cannot perform the audio control functions. Audio levels must be set using a combination of the
Windows Volume Mixer and the Sound Control Panel.
The sound card configuration depends on the capability of your application software. Some software can
directly control the sound mixer controls some can not. Router's Audio Mixer tab provides the ability to
store and recall level settings to the presets for each application (or operating configuration).
Select microHAM CODEC to use the internal sound card in microKEYER II.
The Audio Mixer can operate in Stereo or Mono mode depending on the Stereo check box. If Stereo is
checked, Router will display separate controls for the left and right Wave, Line Out (Volume) and Line In
channels. If Stereo is not selected, the Audio Mixer tab will display a single set of controls and will mute the
right channel. microKEYER II uses the left channel for all output but in some cases you may want to use
the right channel for another purpose (for example, when used with the microHAM micro2R - u2R).
NOTE: Windows can reassign sound cards "on the fly" and Router may not always select the correct
mixer if you have more than one sound card in your system. To confirm that the proper mixer has
been assigned, click the Get ID button and confirm that microHAM CODEC is selected. If the
correct sound card is not selected, restart Router.
