Installing Optional Products
The following optional products may be installed while the ETERNUS2000 is running (hot-expansion pro-
cedures).
• Disk Drive
• Drive Enclosure
• Battery Unit
This chapter explains how to install these optional products.
Be sure to read "ETERNUS2000 models 100 and 200 disk storage system Using Optional Products" before
performing any of these installation procedures.

Do
• When moving a disk drive from a cold place, such as an un-conditioned
store house in winter, to a warmer places such as an air-conditioned
room, the severe temperature change may result in condensation form-
ing.
To avoid this, allow the packed disk drives sufficient time in the warmer
place (one hour for each 10°C of temperature difference) to adapt to the
new temperature.
