PHONES Function

Using the Surround
Headphones Function
■When headphones are connected and the
sound source is other than the radio

Press
repeatedly to select
the headphones mode.
Each time you press
changes as follows.
Normally this mode should be
turned on. For multi-sound, select
H.P. SURROUND mode, and for ste-
reo sound, select H.P. NORMAL
mode.
Select this mode when watching a
movie or listening to a multi-sound
source.
Select this mode when listening to a
sound source recorded with 2ch,
such as a CD or other 2ch sound
source.
• When the surround mode is ON and a signal
is being surround-processed, the display
window shows "SURROUND".
• During recording, the surround mode is tem-
porarily deselected.
• When the headphones are disconnected, the
selected surround mode is displayed.
Refer to "Setting and Adjusting Surround
Mode" (
page 38).

OUT Terminal Output
The output from the PHONES/LINE OUT terminal
can be set to headphones audio output or line out
output for a digital audio player.

and a line out cord is connected

CAUTION
• Do not change the PHONES/LINE OUT terminal
output to LINE OUT 1 or 2 while listening with
headphones, as unexpected loud sounds can dam-
age your hearing. Be sure to connect the line out
cord before changing the setting.
• While a line out cord is connected to the
PHONES/LINE OUT terminal, the speakers do
not produce any sound.
