Starting Operations


Verify that store files are uploaded in SAM1000. You must Receive (Upload)
information from the ECR. Refer to "Receive Programs from ECR (Upload)" on page
73.

If you are having trouble downloading store files from SAM 1000 to a register:

If problems persist, reboot the PC and try again.

If you are having trouble with polling or with opening edit screens, be sure that you have
uploaded the register program.

If you are unable to access a file that has been uploaded, try closing SAM 1000 and
reopening.

 Verify that the store number and IRC range are set to identical values in S-
Mode System Options and SAM 1000 Store Information.
 Set the correct Communication Port and BAUD rate.
 Only enter a phone number here if you are using a modem to poll data.
 If your PC is using any Microsoft Windows
software application that has a communications-port configured, (for
example a modem, mouse or other device) you may have to check on these
settings to make sure there is not a conflict on the same communications port.
 Enter information in the Modem Initial String field only if you have a
modem that needs to be properly configured to communicate.
 Be sure to select memory allocation and download first. Memory allocation
is not selected when "select all" is selected.
 If memory allocation fails, make sure there is enough memory in the register.
An expanded memory board may be required.
 Depending on memory allocation, some elements may fail during download.
Several program files are only active when enabled in memory allocation.

