Cleaning heat sinks of power modules

The heat sink fins of the power modules pick up dust from the cooling air. The drive runs
into overtemperature warnings and trips if the heat sink is not clean. When necessary,
clean the heat sink as follows.
WARNING! Obey the instructions in chapter
them, injury or death, or damage to the equipment can occur.
WARNING! Use a vacuum cleaner with antistatic hose and nozzle. Using a
normal vacuum cleaner creates static discharges which can damage circuit
boards.
1. Stop, de-energize and ground the drive following the steps in section
the drive for maintenance
2. Ground the power modules according to
hook
on page 107.
3. Remove the power module from the cabinet. See
page 118.
4. Blow dry clean compressed air (not humid) from front to back and simultaneously use
a vacuum cleaner at the air outlet to trap the dust. Note: If there is a risk of dust
entering adjoining equipment, perform the cleaning in another room.
5. Reinstall the power module into the drive.
6. Repeat the above steps for all power modules.
7. When the work is completed the drive can be started up again. See Chapter
