Possible causes and remedies
Symptom
Timer Recording
Timer setting cannot be made.
The current time has not been preset.
The TIMER REC (recording)
indicator is not lit even though
you've pressed TIMER REC
(ON/OFF).
No cassette has been inserted.
The cassette is at its end.
No setting for timer-recording has been made.
The cassette is ejected when
performing a timer setting.
The safety tab of the cassette is slid out.
Timer recording was not made.
There has been a power interruption of one hour or more.
TIMER REC (ON/OFF) was not pressed.
Date and clock setting is not correct.
Data Screen
The data screen does not
appear on the screen.
Press DATA SCREEN.
Check to see if you connect your TV to the MONITOR
OUT jacks.
Others
Cassette cannot be inserted.
A cassette has already been inseted.
The Remote Commander
cannot be operated.
A short beep sounds
repeatedly and (ON SCREEN
HELP) appears on the TV
screen.
The VCR does not respond
when you press any button.
The COMMAND MODE has not been set correctly. Set
the COMMAND
MODE on the VCR and the Remote
Commander to the same number, for example, "VTR 2".
The batteries are low.
An illogical operation has been tried. See the "On-
Screen Help Messages"
(page 85).
The built-in microprocessor may be defective. Pressing
the CL (clear) button inside the front panel with a
pcinted object such as a ballpoint pen, may fix the
problem. All stored information (e.g., the clock and any
preset programs) will be cleared.
When you perform
synchronized editing, you
cannot control this VCR from
another VCR.
The LANC mode of another VCR is set to M.
The LANC mode of this VCR is set to S.
