OPERATION

Attaching the shoulder harness
WARNING:
Be extremely careful to maintain
control of the tool at all times. Do not allo w the
tool to be de ected toward you or anyone in the
w ork vicinity. F a i l u r e t o k e e p c o n t r o l o f t h e t o o l
could result in serious injury to the bystander and the
o p e r a t o r .
CAUTION:
Al w ays use the shoulder harness
attached to the tool. Before operation, adjust the
shoulder harness according to the user si z e to
prevent fatigue.
CAUTION:
Before operation, make sure that
the shoulder harness is properly attached to the
hanger on the tool.
CAUTION:
W hen you use the tool in combi-
nation of the backpack-type po w er supply such
as portable po w er pack, do not use the shoulder
harness included in the tool package, but use the
hanging band recommended by Makita.
I f y o u p u t o n t h e s h o u l d e r h a r n e s s i n c l u d e d i n t h e
t o o l p a c k a g e a n d t h e s h o u l d e r h a r n e s s o f t h e b a c k -
p a c k - t y p e p o w e r s u p p l y a t t h e s a m e t i m e , r e m o v i n g
the tool or backpack-type power supply is difficult in
c a s e o f a n e m e r g e n c y , a n d i t m a y c a u s e a n a c c i d e n t
or injury. For the recommended hanging band, ask

Correct handling of the tool
WARNING:
Al w ays position the tool on your
right-hand side. C o r r e c t p o s i t i o n i n g o f t h e t o o l a l l o w s
f o r m a x i m u m
c o n t r o l a n d w i l l r e d u c e t h e r i s k o f s e r i -
ous personal injury caused by kickback.

To avoid accident, leave more
than 15m (50 ft) distance bet w een operators w hen
t w o or more operators w ork in one area. Also,
arrange a person to observe the distance bet w een
operators. If someone or an animal enter the
w orking area, immediately stop the operation.
CAUTION:
If the cutting tool accidentally
impacts a rock or hard object during operation,
stop the tool and inspect for any damage. If the
cutting tool is damaged, replace it immediately.

Remove the blade cover from the
cutter blade w hen cutting the grass.
