Children should sit properly restrained in a
rear seat. This is because:
• An inflating front or side airbag can injure
or kill a child sitting in the front seat.
• A child in the front seat is more likely to
interfere with the driver's ability to safely
control the vehicle.
• Statistics show that children of all sizes and
ages are safer when they are properly
restrained in a rear seat.
1Protecting Child Passengers
In many countries, the law requires all children aged 12
and under, and whose height are shorter than 150 cm
(60 inches) be properly restrained in a rear seat.
In many countries, it is required to use an officially
approved and suitable child restraint system for
transporting a child on any passenger seat. Check
your local legal requirement.
Child restraint systems must meet UN Regulation No. 44
or No. 129 or the regulations of the subject countries.
