Introduction
XDM and XDUO mixers are provided with several safety systems to guarantee the safety
of personnel, equipment, and product.
Emergency stop
The XDUO mixer is equipped with an emergency stop functionality. The EMERGENCY
STOP button is located on the front of the I/O Cabinet. The EMERGENCY STOP button is
engaged by being pushed.
System labeling
The system is labeled to make operators aware of the hazards associated with system
operation. These labels show important information that must be available to the user
at all times during operation. All labels used on the system are described in this manual,
see Section 2.2 Labels, on page 28 for detailed information.
Burst disc
Jacketed XDM and XDUO mixers are equipped with a burst disc, which is designed to
rupture when the vessel jacket pressure approaches the accepted test pressure. This
prevents catastrophic failure of the vessel jacket.
Any leaking or dripping from the vessel jacket should immediately be reported to your
GE representative to get support.
Interlocks
Each XDUO mixer contains interlock safety functionality that prevents mixer operation,
if process variable values are within the defined interlock limits. See Section 2.4 Xcellerex
XDUO mixer interlocks, on page 43 for more information.
Breakers and fuses
Each subcomponent in XDM and XDUO mixers is individually fused.
