3. INSTALLATION AND OPERATION

The Interrogator displays the following start-up message for approximately three seconds:

Quickly check the type of connected detector shown on the top line of the message.
The display shows Excel or Optima+ or Optima.

If the unit displays Optima+ or Optima immediately press the ESC key on the keypad.
The ESC key must be pressed within 3 seconds to have any effect. Also see Appendix A,
section 5.6.
This toggles the Interrogator mode between Excel, Optima Plus and Optima.
The start-up message is updated and displayed again for 3 seconds then the unit displays
the Main menu, which is the top level of its Interrogator's menu style interface, as follows:
The first line of the display shows the current level in the menu tree and the second line
displays a sub-menu title, action or data.
Setting the Real-Time Clock
The gas detector clock needs to be initially set so that faults, events, etc., can be accurately
recorded and tracked for diagnostic purposes.

Select Calibrate from the Main menu by pressing the
keypad to navigate through the menu options.
(2)
Press
(Enter) on the Interrogator keypad to display the Calibrate menu.
(3)
Select Set Time/Date from the Calibrate menu.
This switches on the unit.
