Selective Consumption
Not all data ranges within a produced exchange need to be consumed by each PLC. For example, a producer is
producing an exchange consisting of a 4-byte floating point value, followed by a 2-byte integer, followed by a
2-byte analog value. If the consuming PLC wants to consume only the analog value and place it into %AI003,
the consumer might be configured as shown below.

Note that where EGD signatures are not used the total length of the exchange must be the same in producer
and consumer, even if the consumer is ignoring a portion of the exchange. Failure to configure any ignored
bytes in the consumed exchange will result in exchange exception log and fault table entries, error status in the
exchange status data, and no data being transferred for the exchange.
