4.3 Error Message is Re-displayed

4.3.1 "BROKEN REGISTRATION"
Step

Has this machine been used in an envi-
ronment satisfying the specifications? Or
has its power switch been turned OFF for
a long period of time.

Did anyone remove or attach an electronic
component with the power ON?

If not problem is found in the step above,
the Main PBA.
4.3.2 "SCANNER COVER OPEN"

Is the Scanner cover open switch dam-
aged?

Select SENSOR TEST in test mode. (Re-
fer to page 11-20.)
Open the Scanner cover. When the ac-
tuator of the Scanner cover open switch
is turned up, is the Bit 15 (Upper data)
changed?

Is the cable firmly connected between the
Scanner cover open switch and the Mother
PBA (CN5), between the Mother PBA
(CN24) and the Main PBA (CN12)?

When no problem is found in steps above,
Scanner cover open switch itself or the
PBA's may be defective.

Check points
Charge the battery by leaving the unit
plugged in for 24 hours then check it again.
Replace the lithium battery on the Main
PBA (SY1) if it is more than 3 years old.
RAM data has been lost/corrupted. A full
memory clear is required, then the con-
tents must be reset using memory write,
and all drum history data erased.
Replace the Main PBA.
Replace the Scanner cover open switch.
When the bit changes, adjust the position
of the switch so that the hook may hit the
Scanner cover open switch when the
Scanner cover is properly latched.
Insert the cable to the connector firmly.
Replace in the order of: Scanner cover
open switch, Main PBA, Mother PBA.
