Testing the talk&surf CAPI driver
A CAPI driver enables fax and voice programs to access ISDN regardless of the make.
General information on CAPI drivers
You can install a CAPI from only one vendor on a Windows system. If your system
already has a different CAPI, you will see a warning screen when you install the
talk&surf CAPI driver:
If you want to continue using the other CAPI, simply continue the installation. How-
u
ever, you will not be able to use the fax function in that case.
If you want to use the talk&surf CAPI driver, first uninstall the current CAPI by follow-
u
ing its instructions.
Please bear in mind that the application in question may no longer func-
!
tion properly.
Running the loopback test
This application tests whether the CAPI is functioning properly.
The loopback test requires a direct USB connection.
!
The loopback test can only be run if both B-channels are free.
ì
Use the telephone number set in talk&surf for device Int40 in the Receive MSN
field.
ì
If necessary, deactivate the MSN busy (busy-on-busy) option under Configuration
> ISDN settings in talk&surf.
ì
Select the folder Start > Programs > Gigaset > Loopback test.
ì
Enter the PC's telephone number.
ì
Click Start test.
This sets up a test connection. If the connection is opened, then the talk&surf CAPI
driver has been correctly installed and is ready for use.
Checking CAPI connections
You can use the talk&surf CAPI driver's log to check which connections your PC has
opened via CAPI. The log records the following data for each connection:
– Connection type
– Number called
– Caller's number
– Time
– Connection type
– Length
– Bytes received
– Bytes sent
– Connection charges
ì
Select Start > Programs > Gigaset > Log to check the CAPI connections.
