Base settings

Date/time
The Date/time tab shows the current time settings of the PC and base station. Click on
the arrow button to copy the PC time settings to the base station.
You cannot enter the data and time directly in talk&surf. If you need to
adjust the time setting manually, you can temporarily change the PC's sys-
i
tem time. Then restore the system time on the PC after pressing the arrow
button in the Date/time tab.
After every outgoing call that incurs a charge, the date and time will also be automati-
cally updated in so far as this service is offered by your network provider.
Assignments
Up to two telephone connections can be set up at the same time via the two B-channels
of the ISDN line. The external call forwarding and enquiry call each require both B-chan-
nels when these connections are activated in the base station:
If only one channel is free, neither the call forward nor the enquiry call connection
u
can be opened.
If one of these two features has been activated, no further incoming calls can be
u
accepted.
You can avoid this problem by having such connections opened via your network pro-
vider and not in your base station. Please bear in mind that this may incur extra call
charges.
Preferred redirection location – On the network
The base station sends your network provider the destination number for each call
forward. This will leave both B-channels of your ISDN line free when a call is for-
warded. You can activate several call forward numbers at the same time.
Preferred holding for enquiry calls – On the network
The base station sends the first external call back to the network provider. The con-
nection is held there. The second external call (enquiry call) is made using the same
B-channel. The second B-channel is left free.
Automatic call pickup by AM
Only available for Gigaset SX255isdn and Gigaset SX353isdn.
If a call is being recorded by the answering machine, you can pick up the call on an
internal terminal with the same Receive MSN. By pressing the call key you can take
over the call from the answering machine and stop the recording.
Linking the telephone with the PC
The Call menu command is only available in the Calls list and Directories folders if
you assign the PC one of your telephones to be used to set up the connection. After
you enter the telephone number on the PC, the selected terminal will ring briefly
and the connection set up once you press the call key.
The Gigaset 4000C handset switches directly into handsfree mode once
i
you have entered the telephone number on the PC. You do not have to
press the call key.
