FOR PROPER OPERATION

Observe the following notes for successful operation of the server. Use of the server ignoring the
notes will cause malfunctions or failures of the server.
CPU blade
N8400-020F/021F/022F CPU blade assembly can be installed only in the Blade
Assembly Unit N8405-013F or N8405-005AF.
N8405-005F Blade Assembly Unit cannot contain N8400-020F/021F/022F CPU blade
assembly.
Install or remove CPU blades one by one.
When installing or removing a CPU blade, hold it by the portions covered with metal
plates. Do not hold the heat sink and/or electronic parts on the board. To carry a CPU
blade, enter it into the case in which the CPU blade was contained at the purchase and
pack it into the package.
The CPU blade is extremely sensitive to static electricity. Make sure to touch the
metal frame of the server to discharge static electricity from your body before handling
the CPU blade. Do not touch the CPU blade terminals or on-board parts with your
hands bare and/or place the hard disk drive directly on the desk.
Before turning off the power of a CPU blade, shut down the CPU blade correctly.
Perform the power-on procedure of the blade assembly unit by either the use of the
POWER switch or the remote power-on after waiting for a minimum of 15 seconds
from the moment when AC power is supplied to every power unit. If you do not wait at
least 15 seconds, the blade assembly unit may not power on. In this case, power on the
blade assembly unit by using the POWER switch after making sure that the AC power
is supplied to every power unit.
After turning off the power of a CPU blade once, wait 30 seconds before powering on
again.
Remove a CPU blade after you have turned off the power of the CPU blade.
Do not remove the tag put on a CPU blade. Make sure that the tag does not enter the
chassis.
Check and adjust the system clock before the operation if any of the following
conditions is applicable.
Check the system clock at the rough rate of once per month. When the system clock
is installed in a system requiring high time precision, it is recommended to use a time
server (NTP server).
If the system clock is remarkably delayed or advanced as the passage of time in spite of
adjustment, contact your service representative to ask maintenance.
