8 Emergency Mode
8.1

Overview

You can program Emergency Mode in "Edit >
Emergency Information > Emergency Mode" in the
FPU.
"Emergency Mode" is the mode in which emergency
operations are performed.
In Emergency Mode, the transceiver automatically
transmits and receives. It either transmits the DTMF
or MSK ID to the base station depending on the FPU
selection.

Emergency Mode
Press and hold the key (or Function Port)
programmed as Emergency for more than one
second to begin transmitting and receiving. This is
the 1st Emergency Mode.
Voice is transmitted during the automatic
transmission, allowing the dispatcher to understand
the situation.
You can receive calls from the dispatcher unless the
Secret Emergency function has been programmed.

Emergency Mode
You can switch the Horn Control (Output) logic and
Light Control (Output) logic 60 seconds after the
Emergency Mode is activated. This is the 2nd
Emergency Mode.
You can connect the Function Port to the horn and
headlights of the vehicle so that people outside the
car easily identify that the vehicle is in Emergency
Mode.
Emergency Mode Exit
There are four ways to exit Emergency Mode:
Removing the transceiver power:
You can turn the transceiver off by unplugging its
power cord. The transceiver does not store the
Emergency Mode status. The transceiver enters
normal operation the next time it is turned ON.
Switching the transceiver OFF:
The transceiver does not store the Emergency
Mode status. The transceiver enters normal
operation the next time it is turned ON.
However, you cannot switch the transceiver OFF
when the Emergency Power Switch is
programmed, even though the display blacks out.
Pressing and holding the [Emergency] key for
more than 10 seconds:
When the Emergency Manual Reset function is
programmed, you can exit Emergency Mode by
pressing and holding the [Emergency] key for
more than 10 seconds.
Using DTMF:
Emergency Mode exits when the transceiver
receives the DTMF Reset Code from the
dispatcher.
Refer to "8.1.12 Emergency Display" and "8.1.16
Emergency Recognition" for Emergency Mode
display details. The following sections detail the
emergency mode operation and settings.

8.1.1 Emergency Group/Channel

The Emergency Group/Channel is the Channel used
when the transceiver enters the Emergency Mode.
Press the [Emergency] key to move to the
Emergency Group/Channel.
The transceiver enters Emergency Mode on the
current Group/Channel when an Emergency
Group/Channel is not programmed.

8.1.2 Duration of Transmission

The Duration of Transmission is the duration for
automatically transmitting in the Emergency Mode.
The transceiver automatically transmits for the
programmed duration before returning to the receive
mode.
You cannot use this function when Stun is enabled.

8.1.3 Duration of Receiving

The Duration of Receiving is the duration for
receiving in the Emergency Mode.
The transceiver automatically receives for the
programmed duration and then enters the automatic
transmission mode.

8.1.4 Emergency Type

This function allows you to select DTMF or MSK to
transmit the ID in the Emergency Mode.
