Description of Functions

3.2.1 Time-out Timer

This function is used to set the amount of time that
the transceiver is allowed to continuously transmit
and when it is allowed to transmit again.
This function prevents a user from occupying a
repeater or simplex frequency for long periods of time
The transceiver will stop transmitting continuously
when the programmed time is exceeded.
There are four types of timers: Time-out Timer, TOT
Pre-Alert, TOT Rekey Timer and TOT Reset Time.
Time-out Timer
This is the maximum time for continuous
transmission.
Default
60 s
Range
OFF/ 30 s ~ 300 s (in steps of 30 s)
TOT Pre-Alert
The TOT (Time-out Timer) Pre-Alert tone sounds
before the Time-out Timer expires.
Default
OFF
Range
OFF/ 1 ~ 10 s (in steps of 1 s)
TOT Rekey Timer
The TOT (Time-out Timer) Rekey Timer
determines the length of time required before you
can re-transmit.
Default
OFF
Range
OFF/ 1~ 60 s (in steps of 1 s)
TOT Reset Timer
The TOT (Time-out Timer) Reset Timer
determines the length of time required before
resetting the Time-out Timer while not
transmitting.
You can re-transmit while this timer is operating,
but the Time-out Timer will not be reset.
Default
OFF
Range
OFF/ 1 ~ 15 s (in steps of 1 s)
Example
When setting the Time Out Timer at "30" seconds,
the TOT Pre-Alert at "10" seconds, the TOT Rekey
Timer at "15" seconds and the TOT Reset Timer at
"3" seconds:
• The Pre-Alert tone sounds after 20 seconds of
continuous transmission.
• The transceiver stops transmitting and enters
the receiving mode 10 seconds after the
Pre-Alert tone sounds.
• You cannot transmit for 15 seconds from when
the transceiver enters receiving mode.
• The Time-out Timer starts counting as soon as
the PTT switch is pressed and continues
counting even if the PTT switch is released
within 30 seconds from the beginning of the
transmission. In this case, the Time-out Timer
continues counting for 3 seconds if the PTT
switch is released.
• The Time-out Timer stops counting down when
the PTT switch is released after the TOT Reset
Timer expires. It starts counting down again
when the PTT switch is pressed again.

3.2.2 Minimum Volume

The minimum volume level is programmable in the
TK-7100H/8100H.
This function sets the minimum volume level when
turning the transceiver ON.
The transceiver emits a tone unless the Minimum
Volume is set to "0."

3.2.3 Squelch Level

This function programs the squelch level at which the
carrier signal level is muted. Signal levels that are
less than the pre-programmed level will not unmute
the speaker of the transceiver.
Setting the Squelch Level at a high level can reduce
the reception of unwanted calls when they are weak.
You can select a squelch level between 0 and 9.
Squelch Level = 0
The mute function is disabled.
The transceiver controls the Squelch only with the
preset QT/DQT codes in properly programmed
channels.
Squelch Level = 1~ 9
You can operate Squelch using the programmed
value.
(1: Threshold Squelch Level, 9: Tight Squelch
Level)
