Capacitors

The converter intermediate circuit employs film capacitors. Their lifespan depends on the
operating time of the converter, loading and ambient temperature. Capacitor life can be
prolonged by lowering the ambient temperature.
Capacitor failure is usually followed by the converter module and module fuse failure, or a
fault trip. Contact ABB if capacitor failure is suspected. Replacements are available from
ABB. Do not use other than ABB specified spare parts.

BCU control unit

WARNING!
Only qualified electricians are allowed to do this work. Do not remove or
insert a memory unit when the converter is powered or the control unit is
powered from an external power source.
Read the complete safety instructions of the converter. If you ignore the
instructions, physical injury, death, or damage to the equipment can occur.
Disconnect the converter from the all power sources and make sure it is safe to start the
work. See the safety instructions.

Replacing the memory unit

The memory unit is located on the BCU control unit.
WARNING!
Do not remove or insert the memory unit when the control unit is powered.

To remove the memory unit, undo the fastening screw and pull the memory unit out.
2.
Insert the new memory unit and fasten the screw.

Replacing the real-time clock battery

Replace the real-time clock battery if the BATT LED is not illuminated when the control unit
is powered.

Undo the fastening screw and remove the battery.
2.
Insert the new battery according to the figure below.
3.
Dispose the old battery according to local disposal rules or applicable laws.
4.
Set the real-time clock.

Replacing the SD/SDHC memory card

Note: Do not remove the SD card while the yellow WRITE LED is lit. Writing to the SD card
is in progress.
