Cooling and heating
Contents of this chapter
This chapter deals with the internal cooling circuit.
Hardware description
General
■
The internal cooling circuit covers the heat-generating electrical components and transfers
the heat to the external cooling circuit that is usually part of a larger external cooling system.
Diagram of the internal cooling and heating circuit
■
The following diagram shows how coolant circulates in the grid-side converter, LCL filter,
main breaker and generator-side converter cubicles of the wind turbine converter.
The converter cabinet is combined-cooled: main components (such as IGBTs, module du/dt
filter (choke, resistors), chokes of the LCL filter) and control electronics are liquid-cooled.
Capacitors of the LCL filter and main circuit breaker are air-cooled. There are air inlets on
the cabinet doors, and air outlets on the cabinet roof.
