7. QVLAN Static Memberships

The per-port QVLAN static memberships in 1-4000 range are preserved.
Any QVLAN static memberships greater than 4000 are deleted.
NOTE: The users can always use the "Load Defaults" button to start configuring
the unit from the factory defaults.

Upgrading from V2 to V3

The V2 and V3 units are compatible to the extent that they can operate in the
same network, however, a V2 unit configuration cannot be pasted into a V3 unit
or vice versa. Also, the GUI appearances for the two versions are slightly
different.
Generally, the V2 users adding a V3 unit to their system do not need to upgrade
the existing units to V3 if they are not planning to use the new features offered by
V3. If the new features are required at certain locations, only those locations will
have to be upgraded. However, to facilitate system maintenance, the V2 users
are recommended to upgrade all their ETHER-1000 V2 units to V3 at their
earliest convenience.
The unit upgrade is carried out by executing a GE-supplied program while the PC
is connected to the ETHER-1000 unit‟s CI.
The users upgrading their ETHER-1000 system from V2 to V3 should expect no
problems during the upgrade process. During the upgrade, the port types will be
assigned as per the point 5 above.
