8. Torque wheel hub nut
to specification and install a
u
NEW cotter pin
. Tighten nut slightly if necessary to
align cotter pin holes. Bend both ends of cotter pin
around end of spindle in different directions.
TORQUE
Wheel Hub Castle Nut:
180 lb-ft (244 Nm)
9. Install wheel and wheel nuts. Refer to "Wheel
Installation"page
procedure.
10. Rotate wheel and check for smooth operation.
REAR BEARING CARRIER REMOVAL /
INSPECTION
1. Elevate rear of vehicle and safely support machine
under the frame area.
CAUTION
Serious injury may result if machine tips or falls. Be
sure machine is secure before beginning this service
procedure. Wear eye protection when removing
bearings and seals.
2. Check bearings for side play by grasping the top and
bottom of the tire firmly and checking for movement.
The tire should rotate smoothly without binding or
rough spots.
3. Remove the four wheel nuts and rear wheel.

4. Remove the cotter pin

hub castle nut
. Remove the nut, and cone washer

from the rear wheel hub assembly.
NOTICE
2016–2017 models have two cone washers
5. Remove and discard the brake caliper mounting
bolts. Remove the rear brake caliper assembly from
the brake disc. Refer to "Brake Caliper Removal -
Rear"page 9.50 procedure.
CAUTION
Do not hang the caliper by the brake line. Use wire to
hang caliper to prevent damage to the brake line.
6. Remove the rear hub assembly from the bearing
carrier.

7. Remove the fasteners
carrier to the upper and lower control arms. Remove
the bearing carrier from the rear drive shaft.
FINAL DRIVE
and loosen the rear wheel
securing the rear bearing
