5 - SETTINGS MENU

SETTINGS MENU of ARCO controller allows to set individual parameters of complete controller
behavior. There are no internal switches, jumpers or trimmers, all settings can be set here.

General

ROTATOR NAME: Sets rotator name for identification and is also shown on the screensaver.
ROTATOR LOCATION: Sets GPS coordinates of rotator installation place in WGS 84 format
(decimal degrees, World Geodetic System 84). Controller shows computed QRA locator.
Settings proper location is important for various calculation, greyline and sun position, and
calibration.
DISTANCE UNITS: Sets ARCO to use kilometers (km) or miles (mil) as a distance units.
TIME: UTC Time in the HH:MM:SS format
DATE: UTC Date in the DD:MM:YYYY format. Accurate time and date is necessary for various
calculations, same as rotator location. Time and date can be automatically synchronized using
NTP server, see LAN settings tab.
SCREENSAVER: Specifies time for activating screensaver to avoid display burn out.
Screensaver activates automatically if there is no manipulation with ARCO or no heading
change for a specified time. During screen saving is ARCO fully operational and wake ups
automatically to respond to the computer control as well as to the front panel control.
STAND BY: Specifies time when controller enter Stand by mode. In stand by mode, display,
touch screen and rotator control CPU is off. Rotator hardware is physically disconnected from
the controller. Controller can be waken up by pressing hardware buttons, touching knob, by
valid heading command received from RS-232, USB or by valid packet received over LAN.
PARK BEFORE STAND BY: Allows to turn rotator to a specific heading defined in next field
before controller enters Stand By mode.
KNOB STEP: Defines Point and Shot knob steps. It also automatically sets heading number
resolution on the main screen to tenths of degrees (0.1º).
COARSE: Doubles knob sensitivity.
RETURN TO STOP BY KNOB: Enables Point and Shot knob return stop function for restoring
rotator heading to a position at which was stopped.
BACK RETURNS LAST HEADING SET BY: Defines what heading changes are remembered
for returning last heading by BACK button on the main screen.
TOUCH'n TURN: Enables heading settings by touching the great circle map.
