Open the hood.

Turn the key in the ignition switch to the O
position and crank the engine.
Note:
The mechanical pump sucks fuel out of
the tank, fill the fuel filter and fuel hose and force
the air into the engine. This could take some
time to fully purge all the air out of the system
and the engine might fire erratically until all air
is purged out. When all air is purged and the
engine is running smoothly, it should be run for
a few minutes to ensure that it is fully purged.

Replacing the Fuel Filter

Service Interval: Every 500 hours
Before each use or daily—Drain water or other
contaminants from the water separator.
Important:
periodically to prevent wear of the
fuel-injection-pump plunger or the injection
nozzle, due to dirt in the fuel.
1.
Place a clean container under the fuel-filter
canister
Note:
The fuel-filter canister is located near the
battery under the engine cover.
2.
Loosen the drain plug on the bottom of the filter
canister.
3.
Clean the area where the filter canister mounts.

Remove the filter canister and clean the
mounting surface.
5.
Lubricate the gasket on the filter canister with
clean oil.
6.
Install the new filter canister by hand until the
gasket contacts mounting surface and then
rotate it an additional 1/2 turn.
7.
Tighten the drain plug on the bottom of the filter
canister.
