The DPF requires removal and professional cleaning after it
has accumulated over 50 g/L of ash. The InfoCenter will
warn the operator in phases when this DPF maintenance is
due. The first warning will occur when the ash accumulation
reaches 48 g/L and will show an advisory (number 179) on
the InfoCenter. This advisory is meant to give your service
department notice that your machine will soon need DPF
cleaning maintenance. If you would like to know the current
level of ash in any of your Toro Tier 4 products, you can
find it by going to the Service menu of the InfoCenter after
entering the PIN. Reference "Using the InfoCenter LCD
Display" for more information on accessing protected menus.
When the ash accumulation reaches 50 g/L, you will see a
engine fault come up on the InfoCenter (SPN 3720, FMI 16)
to alert the operator that the DPF needs cleaning. Also at the
50 g/L level, the engine will de-rate its power to 85%. At this
time, the DPF needs to be removed and replaced with a clean
DPF. A Yanmar diagnostic tool will need to be used to reset
the engine ECU after a clean DPF is installed. Talk with your
Toro distributor and see your service manual for more details
on the removal and installation of the DPF.

If the DPF is not cleaned at the 50 g/L level, the engine will
continue to run at the de-rated 85% power level until the ash
accumulation reaches 60 g/L. When the ash level reaches 60
g/L, the engine will send out a fault (SPN 3720, FMI 0) and
the engine will de-rate to 50% power. At this time, the DPF
is fully plugged and needs to be removed and replaced with a
clean DPF. A Yanmar diagnostic tool will need to be used to
reset the engine ECU after a clean DPF is installed.
