3. Remove the belt covers.
4. Grease the three spindle bearings under the pulleys
until grease comes out the lower seals (Figure 27).
5. Grease the idler arm on the mower deck (Figure 27).
6. Grease the fittings on the push arms (Figure 27).

Service Interval: Yearly
Note: When performing this procedure, the old seals
will need to be replaced with new seals. Contact an
Authorized Service Dealer for the correct seals.
1. Disengage the PTO, move the motion control levers
to the neutral locked position and set the parking
brake.
2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all
moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
3. Raise the front of the machine and support it with
jack stands.
4. Remove then nut and bolt holding the caster wheel
to the front caster fork (Figure 28).
5. Remove the seal guard from the wheel hub
(Figure 28).

6. Remove one of the spacer nuts (with wrench flats)
from the axle (Figure 30).
Note: Thread locking adhesive has been applied
to the spacer nuts.
7. Remove the axle without removing the opposite
spacer nut (Figure 30).
8. Remove the seals and inspect the bearings for wear
or damage. Replace the bearings if needed.
9. Pack the bearings with general purpose grease.
10. Insert the bearing and a new seal into the wheel
(Figure 30).
Note: Do not install the nut all the way onto the
axle.
11. If both spacer nuts were removed from the axle,
apply thread locking adhesive to the spacer nut.
Install the spacer nuts onto the axle leaving an 1/8
inch (3mm) of the nut past the axle (Figure 29).
